Open-source software has a lot to offer the business world.

Reduced cost

Increased Reliability

Large suppport community

Increased Security

A consumer's rational desire to avoid being locked into a monopoly supplier will increase its interest in open source. Nobody wants to be tied to a single supplier who can call the tunes. Using solutions based on open standards means if you want to change to a different suppler it is easier.
